- There will be two summative examinations during the academic year and as many formative examinations as deemed necessary.
- Regular class tests are a feature, and the performance of students in these will be considered for promotion.
- Parents should ensure that their wards attend all examinations regularly.
- Answer sheets of periodic examinations are shown to parents for the improvement of their wards. Parents are expected to contact the class teachers within the scheduled time period for the same. Answer scripts of final examinations are not shown.
- To avoid unhealthy competition among students to secure a particular rank—which often becomes a prestige issue for parents and to broaden their outlook on the evaluation process while reducing stress, students will be awarded grades instead of marks in all main evaluations.
- A student who uses unfair means during examinations will be given zero in that subject and will be issued a Transfer Certificate (T.C.) upon repetition.
- A pupil who fails twice in the same class shall not be allowed to continue in the school under any circumstances.
- If a student does not appear for the main examinations, they will be considered failed, except in the case of sickness, subject to the Principal’s discretion.
- A pupil may not be allowed to sit for the summative examinations if they have not maintained a minimum of 75% attendance for the academic term.
- Progress Reports are issued after every examination. Parents are requested to take note of the remarks, sign, and return the report the same day.
- Promotion is granted based on the student’s entire year’s performance.
- The general criterion for promotion is that the student has grasped the subject matter of their current class sufficiently well to follow subjects in the higher class with ease.
- A child in the Kindergarten Section will be detained only if it is felt that repeating the class will be beneficial.
Promotion Policy and Grading System
The promotion policy for all classes is based on the following nine-point grading system in all academic subjects:

Grade | Marks Range |
---|---|
A1 | 91 to 100 |
A2 | 81 to 90 |
B1 | 71 to 80 |
B2 | 61 to 70 |
C1 | 51 to 60 |
C2 | 41 to 50 |
D | 33 to 40 |
E1 | 21 to 32 |
E2 | 00 to 20 |
If a child receives a ‘D’ grade in three or more subjects from Class I onwards, they may be detained in the same class with parental consent.
Each student must pass both the continuous and comprehensive evaluation and the summative examination separately with a ‘D’ grade or above.
Students receiving ‘E1’ in one subject in the overall grade shall be considered ‘passed by grace’.
An ‘E’ grade in more than one subject will require the student to either reappear for examinations or repeat the class, subject to the Principal’s discretion.
